Bad news, Longmire fans. Netflix is bidding farewell to the crime drama, but not before the series wraps with one final thrilling season!

Deadline reports that Netflix has renewed Longmire for a sixth and final season which will consist of 10 episodes.

As sad as it’ll be to see Longmire go, fans of the series will undoubtedly be grateful for the extended life the series got over on Netflix. The popular streaming service saved the crime drama after A&E pulled the plug after just three seasons.

Thanks to a dedicated fan campaign, we’ll have gotten three more seasons out of the series before the show comes to an end. More importantly, it sounds as though the showrunners will have time to wrap the series up nicely before the doors close on Longmire forever.

Executive producers Greer Shephard, Hunt Baldwin, and John Convey spoke out about getting the opportunity to give the show the sendoff it deserves in a statement announcing Longmires final season.

“We are grateful to Netflix for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories,” said the producers. “Most importantly, we’re committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty.”

As bittersweet as it’ll be to say goodbye to Longmire, we couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that the showrunners will have time to wrap up any loose ends they need to in the final ten episodes of the series.

The finale season of Longmire set to premiere in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand sometime in 2017.
