Taylor Swift surprised everyone when she made an appearance at the 50th Annual County Music Association Awards.
On Wednesday, the 26-year-old singer went back to where it all began,Nashville, Tennessee, to honor her country roots in the best way possible, by not only attending the special 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards, but presenting the biggest award of the night.
Swift presented the award for Entertainment of the Year, which she has actually won twice in the past, and it was great seeing her back with the country family that helped put her on the map.
“Hi, Nashville!” Swift said as she took the stage to present the coveted award. “It’s been almost 13 years since I came to Nashville with a dream of being a songwriter and a recording artist.”
Continued the singer: “And I learned so much about what it means to be an entertainer from the remarkable artists in this arena tonight. That’s just one of the reasons I feel so honored to present this next award to any one of these five outstanding nominees for Entertainer of the Year, and be a part of this historic night we’ll all remember.”
After showing her appreciation for the country music genre and those who are still in it, Swift announced the night’s big winner, which was the one and only, Garth Brooks!
Swift also showed her support for one of her favorite bands, Little Big Town, both before and after the award show. After the Pennsylvania native revealed that she actually wrote the band’s song, “Better Man,” Swift sent them her love on Instagram wishing the group good luck.
When Little Big Town later took home the award for Vocal Group of the Year, Swift again gave them a shout out after seeing them backstage. It was truly a country-filled love fest for the former country starlet and we loved seeing her back in Nashville.
