Brace yourselves, Ethan Hunt fans, because there’s a new Mission: Impossible adventure on the way!

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Paramount has officially set a date for Mission: Impossible 6. The studio revealed on Tuesday (Nov. 8) that we can expect the next installment of the action series to hit the big screen in July of 2018.

Fans who have been keeping tabs on the future of Mission: Impossible will undoubtedly remember that series star Tom Cruise signed on to reprise his role as the special agent back in September. Even so, this is the first we’re hearing of an official release date.

The upcoming sixth installment of the franchise is also set to reunite Cruise with Christopher McQuarrie, who directed las summer’s heart-stopping thriller, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.

Just as he did for M:I5, McQuarrie has both written the script for M:I6 and will helm the upcoming project. For his part, Cruise is set to both star and serve as producer on the film.

2015’s Rogue Nation found Ethan Hunt taking on the task of eradicating an International organization known simply as the Syndicate, who’s set to stop at nothing until they take down the IMF.

The fifth installment of Hunt’s adventures took us all on quite the journey, so we’re excited to see what McQuarrie and Cruise have up their sleeves with regards to a follow up to M:I5!

Mission: Impossible 6 hits theaters July 27, 2018.
