5 Most Sisterly Moments In ‘Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants’

When it comes to celebrating that special sisterly bond, few films do it better than Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is one of the greatest chick flicks of all time, probably because it’s all about girls and their bond of friendship. Every girl should watch this movie to get empowered about themselves, learn about girl power and realize that your best friends can easily become your sisters.

Throughout the 2005 film, friends Bridget (Blake Lively), Lena (Alexis Bledel), Carmen (America Ferrera) and Tibby (Amber Tamblyn), pick each other up when they’re feeling down, believe in the power of the pants (that just happen to fit all of them…), and realize that growing up is hard. The biggest truth they (and the audience!) learn, however, is that best friends can easily become sisters.

See what moments from the movie were the most sisterly below and prepare yourself to want to re-watch the movie right away, or possibly relive all the Sisterhood stars’ real-life friendship again and again.

1. Making Each Other Try on the Pants While Shopping

Could there be anything more sisterly than a day of shopping and trying on clothes that you love but probably won’t fit into? The answer: No! The girls make each other laugh, build each other up and really act like sisters as they urge one another to put on the pants, which eventually bonds them together forever.

2. The Traveling Pants Ceremony

While meeting in the run-down, pre-natural yoga studio their moms first met in is a little odd, the idea of having a secret meeting spot where you talk about everything is definitely a sister move. The fact that the girls channel a séance vibe as they lay down the rules of the traveling pants is pretty much what every sleepover was like as a girl growing up and therefore makes it more sisterly.

3. Carmen and Tibby Fighting About Her Dad

Sometimes being a true sister or friend means telling the truth and not sparing someone’s feelings and that’s exactly what happens when Carmen comes home and Tibby tells her she’s being a little annoying about her dad. Don’t get us wrong, Carmen’s dad is the worst, but Tibby points out that she acted like a child and that life is a lot crueler than having your dad get remarried. Clearly this fight is more about Tibby dealing with Bailey dying, but either way the truth talk is a total sister act. Plus, Tibby convinces Carmen to call her dad and tell him how she feels and it’s very touching.

4. Picking Lena Up at the Airport Together

Another adorable part of this movie is when Lena finally comes home from Greece and all of her best friends are waiting to pick her up. How often do friends pick each other up instead of their parents in high school? Very rarely, but these girls were more than friends, they were sisters so obviously they met her at the airport and instantly hooked arms and headed for another sister adventure.

5. Going With Carmen to her Dad’s Wedding

The cherry on top of the sisterhood moments in the movie is when all of the ladies go to Carmen’s dad’s wedding. Well, technically they take a road trip (again such a sister move), and force Carmen to go, but either way they are there to support her no matter what the outcome. It’s adorable. The only thing that would’ve made it sweeter is if they brought her a dress, because jeans at a wedding is a major no-no, even though they are the magical ones.
