Deadpool 2 has officially found its director in David Leitch!

Yahoo reports that the John Wick helmer will officially spearhead the upcoming sequel, taking over directing duties from Tim Miller.

Miller, who directed the first installment of the Deadpool series, parted ways with Fox back in October. Sources say that Miller left due to creative differences with actor Ryan Reynolds. Reynolds, who portrays Deadpool in the films, also played a huge part in bringing the Merc with a Mouth to the big screen, so it’s unfortunate that the two weren’t able to see eye-to-eye.

As sad as fans were to hear that Miller wouldn’t be returning to direct Deadpool 2, the sequel is undoubtedly in good hands with its new director.

John Wick aside, Leitch is also well versed in working behind the scenes on action flicks. Prior to making his directorial debut, Leitch and his Wick co-director,p Chad Stahelski worked as stunt coordinators and second unit directors before going on to birth the stunt company, 87eleven.

Leitch may be taking the reigns on Deadpool 2, but fans shouldn’t expect the director to stick around for the third installment of the comic series. The Hollywood Reporter revealed earlier this month that Fox is already looking ahead to Deadpool 3. Sources tell the publication that the studio is currently on the hunt for a director to helm the third installment, which is expected to tap into the X-team, X-Force storyline.

We’re definitely looking forward to seeing what Leitch does with Deadpool now that we know he’s officially taking the reigns on the project!

Deadpool 2 is expected to hit theaters on March 2, 2018.
