‘Nashville’ EP Reveals A Big Storyline Regret

Nashville season 5 is going to be full of changes, and we’re not just talking about the fact that the show is moving from ABC to CMT.

The country music series premieres on CMT on January 5, with a special sneak peek on Thursday, December 15, of the first half of the first episode, and things are going to be different… in a good way.

In fact, there is one big storyline regret that the series’ executive producer told TV Line he plans to make up for with the fresh season and it revolves around Maddie Conrad (Lennon Stella).

“I can say that I was not a fan of the storyline that they gave Maddie last year,” executive producer, Marshall Herskovitz told TV Line‘s Kimberly Roots.

The storyline involved Maddie legally separating from her parents when they wouldn’t allow her to sign with a recording label. Now, the angsty teen’s saga is getting a makeover.

“We’ve made a course correction on that that we’re very excited about, and I think Lennon is excited about,” Herskovitz explained.

A more positive Maddie would be ideal! Maybe she’ll go back to her happy self, like when she was learning guitar from her dad, or when she fell in love for the first time. Ah, wouldn’t that be nice?

We can’t wait to see the changes that Maddie faces when the new season hits, as well what’s in store for her little sister Daphne, and of course, her mother Rayna and father Deacon. We just love this little musical family, even with all their drama and after all the times they’ve messed with our hearts.

Nashville officially returns for its fifth season on CMT on January 5, 2017.
