Nashville season 5 is officially upon us and that means more Rayna James — aka Connie Britton!

On Wednesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Britton, who plays the lead on Nashville, revealed that she’s all in on the show’s CMT return and we couldn’t be happier.

“The fans were just not going to have it,” Britton explained about Nashville’s cancellation on ABC and eventual pick up by CMT.

When we let off with the country music show, fans were scared that the 49-year-old actress wouldn’t be all in for season 5 when it returned on a new network, but Britton shut down those rumors very quickly.

“I’m in it. I’m in,” Britton told the show’s host, Ellen DeGeneres. “I’m in for the duration. We’re about to start a new season.”

According to the redheaded actress the new season is much more like the first three season that everyone knew and loved. Season 4 went a little off the show’s main message and musical roots, so the new season will take us back to the beginning… sort of.

“It’s an exciting new season because we have new showrunners, so we have new writers,” she explained about this season. “The stories I think are going to get us back to what Nashville is about.”

Nashville returns with an all-new season on January 5, 2017 on CMT and we are SO excited!

What do you hope to see this season? Is Rayna James your favorite character?
