Hugh Jackman may have been ready to say goodbye to Wolverine, but a certain smart-mouthed merc has got the actor contemplating playing the clawed mutant just one more time.

In a recent interview with Variety, Jackman revealed that he’s tempted to give in to actor Ryan Reynolds’ plea to portray Wolverine again, only this time in a Deadpool film.

“I’m hesitating,” said Jackman, despite the fact that he’s repeatedly gone on the record as saying Logan would be his final appearance as the iconic X-Men character.

The fact that Jackman is even contemplating teaming up with The Merc With A Mouth means that all the campaigning Reynolds and the legion of Deadpool fans have been doing has definitely paid off.

And as amazing as it would be to see Wolverine and Deadpool share the big screen, unfortunately, there’s a huge reason as to why Jackman hasn’t said yes already.

“I could totally see how that’s the perfect fit,” said Jackman of having Wolverine appear in Deadpool. “But the timing may be wrong.”

Here’s hoping Reynolds can figure out how to pull this one off. Now that the Deadpool star has made us realize how amazing it would be to see Wolverine step into Wade Wilson’s world, it’s something we desperately want to happen!

For now, however, we’ll have to settle for seeing Deadpool and Wolverine tear up the silver screen in their respective movies.

Logan hits theaters on March 3, and Deadpool 2 arrives just a year later on March 2, 2018.
