Selena Gomez, David Henrie, and Jake T. Austin might have all weighed in on the potential for a Wizards of Waverly Place reunion, but executive producer Todd J. Greenwald couldn’t let his former cast have all the fun!

Spurred on by Austin’s Twitter poll on Tuesday (Jan. 9), the showrunner made sure to throw in his two cents with regards to how he thinks a Wizards of Waverly Place reunion should go.

When Austin asked his followers if there should be a Wizards of Waverly Place reunion, Greenwald replied that if it were to happen, he’d want it to take the form of a movie.

“Only as a motion picture Jake,” tweeted Greenwald to Austin. “Theatrical release then VOD. In my mind, you don’t get fat 😉 #WOWPreunion”

Greenwald’s last bit in reference to Max Russo’s alleged weight gain in the future was in reference to Gomez and Henrie’s own ideas for a reunion. Over the weekend, the pair took to Gomez’s Instagram Stories and laid out their ideas for where all the Russo kids are now.

Regardless of whether the future might find our favorite magical family, it’s clear that Greenwald is sticking to his idea of a movie or nothing at all.

When Maria Canals-Barrera, who played mom Theresa Russo on the series, got in on the discussion, Greenwald made sure she knew what his vision for a reunion was.

“Big budget theatrical…brand new tone…. ;)” tweeted Greenwald to the actress after she told a fan she’d be down for a reunion.

As amazing as a Wizards of Waverly Place reunion movie would be, it’s clearly all talk for now. Even so, Greenwald clearly believes that it might not be as hard as we might think to convince the powers that be over at the Disney Channel to make it happen.

When a fan tweeted her excitement for all the reunion talk that’s transpired over the past few days, Greenwald replied with an optimistic tweet.

“I’m sure if fans make enough noise it could be possible. ;)” tweeted Greenwald.

That’s all the hope we need— we’re officially keeping our fingers crossed!
