Ariana Grande and John Legend are teaming up for Disney’s new Beauty and the Beast soundtrack, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Ariana fueled rumors of the collab last week when she uploaded a pic of herself in the studio to Instagram. With her headphones on and the lights low, Grande tagged both John Legend and the film’s official Instagram in the photo, which the official Beauty and the Beast account promptly reposted. This pic is all it took to get fans excited for the impending duet. Now, per MTV, Disney has officially confirmed that the two are teaming up for the soundtrack.
Per the release, Ari and John will remake the movie’s namesake song, Beauty and the Beast. Sung by Angela Lansbury (who played Mrs. Potts) for the animated movie in 1991, the grandiose Broadway-style ballad was remade into a duet and sung by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson for the end credits. Any ’90s Disney kid can recite the “Tell as old as time…” lyrics on the spot, so for talented performers like Ari and John to take it on will be a nostalgic treat.
This piece of the Beauty and Beast puzzle falls into place just as Disney unveiled the latest live action trailer Sunday night during the 2017 Golden Globes. It was in this latest trailer where we got to see and hear Emma Watson sing her heart out as Belle for the first time.
See if this and many other fan predictions come to fruition when Beauty and Beast hits theaters on March 17, 2017.
