With it’s perplexing mysteries of the Upside Down, and incredibly memorable characters, we can hardly wait for the day that season two makes its grand premiere.

In the meantime, we thought it’d be fun to take a look at some of the most interesting news with regards to next season. Brush up on what we know about Stranger Things season 2 with these five scoops below!

1. There are tons of clues for season 2 embedded into the first teaser trailer.
Netflix made a splash when they announced that Stranger Things had officially been renewed for a second season with a trailer that featured working titles for all the upcoming episodes. According to the Duffer Brothers, fans hoping to get a few clues as to where the story will progress come season 2 need only take a closer look at those episode titles.

“Everything in that teaser is major. But they’re ambiguous enough that no one is going to be ale to figure it out,” teased Matt Duffer in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “Some of the fan theories online are amazing. Most are wrong, but I’ve read a few that are right or very close…some of those people have figured stuff out based off of the chapter titles.”

2. Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin and Alien star Paul Reiser have signed on for the second season.
Both actors were among some of the first new cast members announced for season 2.

Austin will play Bob Newby, a former nerd who went to high school with Joyce and now works as a manager at RadioShack. Reiser, on the other hand, will play Dr. Owens, a man who works within the Department of Energy who’s been tasked with “containing the events of last year.”

3. There’ll be plenty of new characters to fall in love with.
Stranger Things may have introduced us to the likes of Barb and Dustin, but director Shawn Levy recently revealed there’ll be a whole new crop of characters to pick favorites from when season 2 premieres.

“There are several new characters who I think several of them are going to be new fan-favorites because they’re great, great new characters,” teased Levy. “But we are definitely sticking primarily with our core group, and what is different, [and] how are they changed from the experience of last season.”

4. Don’t expect Barb to rise from the Upside Down.
Barb’s tragic storyline may have sparked online outrage among fans— many of whom took to voicing their opinion with #JusticeForBarb. That being said, just in case you were hoping that by some odds, she might be returning for season 2, Millie Bobby Brown has some bad news for you.

“No, she’s not alive!” Brown told EW on the Golden Globes red carpet.

Barb may not appear physically in season two, but fans can rest assured in known that the Duffers have promised we’ll be seeing some justice for Nancy’s BFF!

5. The cast is looking forward to making season 2 even better than the first.
Season 1 may have blown us out of the park, and the cast of Stranger Things is well aware of that. That’s why everyone involved is working hard to make sure the next season of the show is the best it can be. While no one is giving away any major details yet, actor David Harbour, who plays Hopper on the series revealed in an interview with People that the cast and crew are committed to bringing the heat come season 2.
