People’s Choice Awards 2017 looks like it’s going to be one for the books, and the fact that the big night is just around the corner has got us nostalgic for some of the most memorable moments of People’s Choice Awards past!

To celebrate the big day, we thought it’d be fun to take a walk down memory lane and take a look at what People’s Choice Awards looked like almost two decades ago in 2001. Sure, the fashion might have been way different, but when we did some digging, the thing that really caught our eye was some of 2001’s big winners!

The lads of One Direction might reign supreme these days despite their current hiatus, but back in the early 2000s, the fans were all about *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys. In fact, it was *NSYNC who reigned supreme at People’s Choice Awards 2001, taking home top prize in the Favorite Musical Group Or Band category.

Meanwhile, Friends was the clear favorite in television! The hit sit-com won big in the Favorite TV Comedy category and additionally, Jennifer Aniston walked away with the award for Favorite Female TV Performer.

On the movie front, Mel Gibson was 2001’s big winner. The actor packed a one-two punch when he won the awards for Favorite Motion Picture Actor and Favorite Motion Picture Star In A Drama.
