Can you believe it? Blake Lively is officially your People’s Choice Awards 2017 winner for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress!
Yes, the actress that you’ve all come to love and know as Upper East Side’s favorite socialite, Serena van der Woodsen on TV, has won for a dramatic movie role.
The 29-year-old actress winning the coveted award seems like a perfect fit since she was in not one, but two more dramatic roles in 2016, Café Society and The Shallows. We personally loved her in both films, but that doesn’t mean her competition wasn’t stiff.
Lively was up against Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Julia Roberts, and the one and only, Meryl Streep, yet she pulled out the win.
While Lively was thrilled to win, she made it clear during her acceptance speech that she considers her win a victory for all women.
“My mother always told me don’t ever let anyone tell you there’s something you can’t do,'” said Lively. “Thank you for voting for girl power!”
Of course, Lively couldn’t leave the stage without giving a shoutout to husband Ryan Reynolds. After his name drew cheers from the crowds, Lively adorably addressed fans by reminding them that Reynolds is spoken for.
“You can’t have him– he’s mine!” joked Lively.
Congratulations of your big win Blake Lively! We are so excited to see what you do next… maybe a little Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants reunion?
