Congratulations to Oakland rapper G-Eazy who just won the 2017 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Hip-Hop Artist!
A first-time PCA winner, G-Eazy accepted his awarded on the PCA red carpet prior to showtime while wearing a shart, slim fit suit and his hair slicked back.
“This one really means a lot,” said the rapper during the pre-show. “Thank you to every single person who believed in it from the beginning.”
G-Eazy has been representing the new age of Bay Area rap since he started releasing music in 2011. After releasing two albums completely independently, G-Eazy dropped his debut album, These Things Happen, under RCA Records in 2014, followed by When It’s Dark Out in 2015.
His song "Me, Myself and I" featuring Bebe Rexha dropped in October of 2015 and has been a ceritified radio smash, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, G-Eazy even crossed over to pop music in a huge way when he was featured on Britney Spear's song "Make Me..." off her ninth studio album Glory. To date, G-Eazy has worked with everyone from E-40, Marc E. Bassy, Tory Lanez, YG, Rockie Fresh, Yo Gotti and more.
"I do it for the fans, the fans put me here!," said the star. "I'm forever grateful."
