Anne Hathaway is gearing up for a big year on the big screen!

Not only is Hathaway one of the many fabulous females starring in the upcoming film, Ocean’s Eight, but she’s now the lead in a monster movie. Well technically, she’s the lead character and the monster in a monster movie, and we’re very excited about it.

On Friday, Neon released the first look at its upcoming movie flick called Colossal, and all eyes were on Hathaway.

The 34-year-old actress plays Gloria, who might seem like an ordinary women, but actually somehow controls a kaiji, which is a monster that we usually see in Japanese sci-fi films.

The trailer begins with people in South Korea being terrorized by a monster that seems to have sprung up overnight. Seeing as Hathaway’s character, just returned to Seoul, after losing her job in New York City, it seems as though they are somehow connected.

“I just looked at the news, and I think I’m in shock,” her character Gloria says. “A giant monster just materialized over Seoul.”

Although Gloria is just waking up and discovering this fact, the monster has been destroying the city for hours. So what has she been doing the whole time?

Next we see Gloria figuring out that the monster never looks down as it ruins things. Instead it seems to be being controlled or manipulated by a remote control.

As the trailer continues, Gloria discovers that when she moves her arm, the monster moves their arm and therefore she is the monster!

She even makes the monster dance in front of her friends, who are played by Jason Sudeikis and Tim Blake Nelson, until they too uncover her secret.

It’s clearly a colossal secret and a total mystery as to why and how she’s controlling the monster, but it’s very cool at the same time.
