‘Suicide Squad’ Director Reveals The One Thing He’d Change About The Movie

Suicide Squad may have been one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer, but it turns out if director David Ayer could go back, there’s one major thing he’d change about the movie.

While the action-packed super villain extravaganza boasts an interesting premise with Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) as the film’s main foe our favorite baddies must defeat, Ayer revealed in a lengthy Twitter response to a fan that if he could, he’d go back and cast a different villain.

When one fan tweeted the director to let him know that he loved Suicide Squad just the way it was, Ayer wrote back and confessed that if he could go back, he’d switch things up and cast the Joker (Jared Leto) as the film’s main villain.

“I wish I had a time machine. I’d make Joker the main villain and engineer a more grounded story,” wrote Ayer in his lengthy reply. “I have to take the good and the bad an learn from it. I love making movies and I love DC…I have to give the characters the stories and plots they deserve next time. Real talk.”

Regardless of whether you loved Suicide Squad, or found yourself wishing the film had gone in a different direction, it speaks volumes that Ayer is already looking ahead at ways he can improve as a director and a storyteller bodes well for the future of the franchise.

The fact that he cares so much about giving these characters the respect they deserve can only be a good sign as far as we’re concerned, and we’re definitely hoping he gets another chance to play around with the Suicide Squad storyline!
