Update (2/2/17): Dashing the hopes of friendly ghost fans everywhere, Casper star Devon Sawa took to Twitter on Friday (2/2) to say that he was joking when he tweeted about wanting to do a sequel to the 1995 film.
Well, this is definitely a throwback! Devon Sawa revealed he’s ready for another Casper film and now we can’t stop thinking about it.
Sawa, who played the hunky young Casper in Casper — aka the guy who was one of our ‘90s crushes — recently opened up about doing a sequel and we’re all for it.
“Alright, I know it’s been a while, but I think I’m finally ready to do a Casper sequel,” Sawa tweeted last week.
For those of you who don’t remember exactly when the friendly ghost first entered our lives, it was back in 1995, so yes, you could say it’s been a while.
Of course as soon as fans saw this tweet they began freaking out, because yes, we do need more Casper in our lives, and definitely more of Sawa on screen.
After teasing fans with the idea, the 38-year-old actor kind of took it back tweeting, “Actually I’m not ready for Casper 2 yet. Good night.”
Luckily, that sad tweet was quickly followed up by hope again for the cutest ghost ever created to get more screen time.
“Hello Universal, ya it’s me Devon… Sawa… SAwa with an S. Never mind, I’m ready to come back and do another Casper… yes the ghost!” he wrote.
Okay, enough playing with our hearts and minds, we need another Casper.
Maybe Sawa could team up with Hilary Duff, who played Wendy in Casper Meets Wendy and do a total blast-from-the-past Casper combo. What do you think?
If this isn’t enough nostalgia from the former ‘90s heartthrob, Sawa also tweeted about a different ‘90s film that was pretty legendary and also starred Christina Ricci (she was in Casper as well, duh).
Sawa revealed he would be totally open to a second Now and Then, and again our hearts are so happy.
“Hey @imarleneking, where we at on that Now and Then 2 script?” he wrote.
This is just so much retro love that we can’t take it!
What do you think about a Casper 2 and a Now and Then 2? Which would you watch?
