‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Ian Somerhalder Commemorates Shooting Last Scene In The Salvatore Crypt

With the end of The Vampire Diaries drawing near, stars like Ian Somerhalder have been taking to social media to share a few tidbits of their final days on set with fans.

In one of his recent tweets, Somerhalder revealed that there could be a big scene coming up that takes place in none other than the infamous Salvatore crypt.

“Shot the last scene in the Salvatore crypt with @verschoo directing. Wow…,” wrote Somerhalder.

The actor paired his cryptic words with a close-up photo of one the recognizable stained glass windows from within the crypt walls.

As fans of The Vampire Diaries know, the Salvatore Crypt has been the scene of many memorable scene, but it also happens to be the place where Elena’s sleeping body resides.

Now that we know Nina Dobrev is officially set to return for the big finale, we can’t help but wonder if perhaps Somerhalder’s tweet is alluding to the fact that Damon is there to help wake Elena up from the sleeping beauty curse she’s been put under.

If that’s the case, then we think “wow” is definitely a decent reaction with regards to however that ends up transpiring!

The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
