We’re still not over Castle ending, but luckily, Nathan Fillion has landed another new guest role that will make fans very happy. He’s bringing Richard Castle back… well, he’s bringing a similar character to FOX and we’re pretty excited about it.

Fillion won’t be reprising his iconic role of author-turned-unofficial-detective, but he is playing a guy who wants to be a cop, so it’s sort of the same thing.

The 45-year-old actor has been cast as a guest star on Brooklyn Nine-Nine as Mark Devereaux, Entertainment Weekly reported on Tuesday.

Mark is basically the TV star of a show like Law & Order, but it’s called Serve & Protect and he wants to get in on the real action.

Fillion’s character thinks that playing a detective on TV makes him totally ready to help Jake (Andy Samberg) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) investigate a crime that happened on the set of his TV series.

It totally sounds like an episode of Castle doesn’t it? Ah, we just love this casting choice.

Although we don’t have an exact date for Fillion’s episode, we do know it will be sometime this spring, and we’ll be keeping an eye out for it.

In the meantime you can catch the Canadian actor on Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns to FOX on April 11 for its fourth season.
