Justin Timberlake may have had an instant pop hit with “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” but when it comes to his next album, the singer just revealed that he’ll be going in a bit of a different direction.
Timberlake recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter where he opened up about his forthcoming album, which the singer says he’s been working on for months. While Timberlake didn’t give us much to go off of as far as a release date for the record, he did hint that his home state of Tennessee has had a huge impact on shaping the sound of his next album.
“It sounds more like where I’ve come from than any other music I’ve ever made,” said Timberlake in the interview according to On Air With Ryan Seacrest. “It’s Memphis. It’s Southern American music. But I want to make it sound modern— at least thats’s the idea right now.”
Timberlake has tapped some seriously amazing talent to help him produce the sound he’s going after. The “Pusher Love Girl” crooner also revealed in the same interview that he’s been in the studio working on the new album with the likes of famous friends such as Pharrell, Timbaland, and “Can’t Stop The Feeling” collaborator Max Martin.
From the way the singer tells it, it sounds like he’s definitely shooting for the moon when it comes to his forthcoming record, but if anyone can pull off old school Memphis with a modern twist, it’s JT.
Here’s hoping Justin Timberlake lets us in on when we can expect his new record soon!
