New ‘Logan’ Clip Gives Us A Taste Of X-23’s Harrowing Past

Get ready for another healthy dose of X-23. A brand-new clip from the upcoming third Wolverine flick, Logan, is here and it shines a huge spotlight on Logan’s young charge.

The new footage, which was released on Twitter by the film’s director James Mangold, gives fans a taste of just what X-23 (played by Dafne King) has been through.

Unfortunately, X-23, who’s real name is Laura, has had a fairly troubled past. As fans of the comic know all too well, the young mutant was created as part of a secret organization’s attempt to successfully create a clone of Wolverine himself. As a result, Logan and Laura share a lot of the same mutations, including an adamantium skeleton and some seriously impressive healing capabilities.

The new clip shines a harsh spotlight on the lab in which Laura was mutated and it’s safe to say it’s not a pretty sight. As the camera pans around, we get a few shots of bloody stretchers, and one of a team of doctors experimenting on an unconscious X-23 herself.

Perhaps the most harrowing moment in the clip, however, comes right at the end when the camera pans over to the cage where X-23 is kept. There, we see the young mutant curled up on the floor inspecting the set of blades protruding from her knuckles. The clip cuts to black just as she makes eye contact with the camera.

If anything, this new clip makes us even more intrigued by X-23, and we’ll be looking forward to seeing more of her backstory unfold when the final Wolverine film premieres.

Logan hits theaters on March 2.
