Emma Watson ‘Burst Into Tears’ After Seeing Hermione In ‘Harry Potter And The Cursed Child’

Emma Watson is a MAJOR Hermione fan, just like us!

After playing the wizard for 10 years, Watson admits that she was really happy with Hermione’s ending. We’re not talking about the movie ending though, we’re talking about what happens to her in the play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The play, which premiered in London in 2016, shows Hermione during her middle-age years and although it was strange to see someone else play her, Watson says she loved the character’s story.

“It was so strange. It was so emotional seeing Noma [Dumezweni]’s performance in a way that I had not anticipated at all,” Watson told Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican.

It was such an emotional moment for the 26-year-old actress that she actually cried while watching it.

“She walked in the room and I just spontaneously burst into tears,” she continued. “I had played that character so intensely up until that point, that to know that Hermione was going to be okay — I know it sounds crazy — but to know that everything turned out all right and everything in the world was okay, that there was someone else carrying her on and carrying her forward… it was just such a relief.”

Watson also noted that even though we got a taste of her character’s future in Deathly Hallows: Part 2, it was nice to get a better understanding of her endgame.

She said, she felt like Hermione “kind of gets stuck in time at 20 years old, 19 years old… I wanted [Hermione] to have a future.”

Okay, if Watson approves of the grown-up Hermione, then we definitely need to travel to London to see this play in person.

Like we needed another reason to transport back into the wonderful world of Harry Potter?!
