Elle DeGeneres is the winningest celebrity in People’s Choice Awards history, having 20 total awards as of 2017. Back in 2006 however, she was still in her early days of winning.

In 2006, DeGeneres won Favorite Daytime Talk Show Host for the second year in a row, and she used her speech to recognize her fans.

When DeGeneres won, she had a video camera in hand and filmed the entire thing, from the announcement to her walk to the stage and her acceptance speech.

“Thank you. Thank you so much. I talked about it on the show, saying if I won, I would document it. I still would’ve shown it if I lost,” DeGeneres said once on stage.

The talk show host then began to explain why she wanted to use the video camera, but was distracted by her awesome fans.

“Since it is the People’s Choice, yes, hi!” she said. “I wish I had something to feed them, they look very hungry. Little crumbs of something.”

After making the audience laugh DeGeneres continued to thank everyone who made her winning possible… the people.

“I wanted to show you what it’s like, since the people vote for it I wanted you to see,” she explained. “Basically, since you voted for it, you’re like up here, because you won, because you chose it and then I won, so basically you won.”

In typical DeGeneres fashion she couldn’t help but make everyone laugh as she revealed what it’s actually like to be on stage.

“So, this is what it would be like if you were up here,” she continued. “Not really because then you’d be up here and nobody would be up there and then it would be empty.”

Before leaving she gave even more love to the fans, which just makes us love her even more.

“Yes, hello. (looks up to the fans) So, thank you very much, I appreciate it so much,” she added. “Because seriously, when you choose me, you choose you and it means a lot to me. Thank you so much. I love you, goodbye!”
