Nostalgia alert! Nina Dobrev will forever be our Elena Gilbert!

In 2012, The Vampire Diaries star won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite TV Drama Actress and gave a speech that was so sweet and heartfelt that rewatching it today is making us miss The CW series before it’s even gone.

After eight seasons, The Vampire Diaries is coming to an end, and this flashback moment proves once again why the cast of the show will always hold a special place in our hearts.

“Wow, guys, this is so great. I wasn’t even initially nominated at all,” Dobrev said when she accepted her award from Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence.

Yes, there was once a time where Dobrev as our favorite human-turned-vampire wasn’t an automatic in for an award show. In fact, the actress became a nominee in 2012 thanks to fans, who wrote her in by the droves.

“I wasn’t on the ballot, but you guys wrote and wrote and continued to write in so many angry things that they caved in and gave me a nomination and now I won. Thank you, seriously,” she continued.

Of course, the 28-year-old actress gave a shout out to her Vampire Diaries family and the fans and it’s giving us all the feels.

“And now I get to take this to Atlanta, to my other family and to the crew, and everyone who makes the show possible, so thank you everyone,” she said. “And thank you to the fans, I love you guys.”

We love you too Nina!

Why does it have to end? Why?

The Vampire Diaries series finale airs on March 10, 2017.
