Ed Sheeran headed to Westeros!

The singer-songwriter will guest star on Game of Thrones season 7. GOT showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss announced Sheeran’s casting during a panel at SXSW on Sunday (March 12), Variety reports. The showrunners said they wanted to cast Sheeran because Maisie Williams, who plays Aria, is a big fan.

“For years, we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie, and this year we finally did it,” Benioff said. The showrunners didn’t reveal who Sheeran will play, so fans will have to wait to find out whether his character has any ties to the Starks, Lannisters, or Targaryens.

In addition to announcing Sheeran’s casting, Weiss and Benioff also revealed some intel about season 8 of GOT. According to TVGuide.com, the showrunners said that the final season will only consist of six episodes.

Here’s hoping Sheeran manages to squeeze in another cameo in the final season.
