Leave it to Eddie Murphy to joke fun at himself and still give a wonderful speech!

Way back in 1989, Murphy won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Actor in a Comedy Motion Picture and he was so grateful.

Well, actually, he was nervous and then grateful.

“I thought it was going to be another, I was nervous it was going to be another two-way tie and I wasn’t included again,” he joked about a two-way tie he was previously involved in.

The reason he was nervous? Because two-way ties totally stink that’s why!

“That’s very hard, they put the camera in my face and they said it was a two-way tie. It was like, ‘the winners are everyone except you!’” he said laughing.

All jokes aside, the Beverly Hills Cop actor was beyond excited and honored to be standing on stage with an award in his hand.

“But, I’d like to thank god. I’d like to thank my family,” Murphy said. “I’d like to say hi to grandma who’s home and prays for me and I’d like to thank the people who voted for me. And thanks, everybody, thanks a lot.”

No, thank you Eddie, for your years and years of awesomeness in the movie industry!
