Get ready to strap in for another exhilarating ride! The big premiere of the eighth installment of the Fast and the Furious series is just around the corner, but before you head out to the theater to experience The Fate of the Furious, there’s one important thing to know!
Polygon reports that The Fate of the Furious is set to veer off track from the rest of the films in a major way. So what’s different about this movie specifically? It turns out, The Fate of the Furious may clock in at almost three hours.
According to IMDb, the eighth installment of the series is set to have a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes. If that runtime holds true once the film speeds onto the silver screen in April, it’ll make The Fate of the Furious the longest film of the whole series.
To put this a bit more into perspective, the last Fast film, Furious 7 clocked in at 2 hours and 17 minutes. In contrast, the first Fast and the Furious film came in at a mere 1 hour and 46 minutes.
It definitely looks like the trend is to make Dom, Letty and the rest of the gang’s thrilling ride longer and better, and if the 2 hour and 40 minute runtime holds true, we’ll definitely be interested to see what they do with the extra time.
Given how exhilarating the latest trailer for The Fate of the Furious is, we’re thinking they’ll definitely use the long runtime wisely.
In return, maybe we’ll have to skip on the extra large soft drink when we head out to the theater to check the movie out for ourselves— it’d be a shame to miss any bit of the action on screen just because we needed to squeeze in an extra bathroom break!
The Fate of the Furious hits theaters on April 14, 2017.
