Amy Schumer may not be bringing Barbie to life anymore, but she’s got the perfect replacement in mind for the job.
Last month, The Snatched actress revealed that she had to drop out of the upcoming live-action Barbie because of scheduling conflicts. In a new interview with Yahoo Movies, Schumer said she’s “disappointed” she won’t be able to take part in the project.
“I really wanted it to work out,” Schumer told Yahoo Movies at CinemaCon about the Barbie role. “But I hope it happens anyway. And I can’t say enough nice things about Mattel. They have such good intentions, and I really hope it comes together for them.”
Though she can’t play the iconic doll, Schumer has an inspired idea for the lead of the Barbie film and we’re totally on board with her choice.
“Mindy [Kaling] would be great,” Schumer revealed. “I don’t know, I’m excited to see who [gets cast].”
We are excited to see who fills the role of Barbie as well, but Schumer’s suggestion is definitely on point. We’ve got no doubt that Kaling — and her comedy chops — could make the plastic doll come to life in a relatable way.
Who do you think should replace Schumer as Barbie?
