The wait is almost over for One Direction fans who can’t wait to hear what Harry Styles’ debut solo single will sound like. But if there’s anyone more excited than Directioners for the track to drop, it’s Styles himself.
The singer recently sat down with long-time friend and Radio 1 Breakfast host, Nick Grimshaw, where he opened up about what it’s like to be back on the music scene.
“I feel like I’ve been hibernating for so long and…now it’s time to give birth,” said Styles according to Vogue. “It’s the debut single I’m most proud of writing. This is the first thing where I for sure feel like I have a job again.”
It’s clear Styles’ pride in his music doesn’t stop with his upcoming single, “Sign of the Times.” While the singer is keeping tight lipped for now when it comes to what the rest of his upcoming solo album will sound like, he did drop a few hints as to what fans can expect.
For starters, Styles revealed that his goal for his first solo record was to make an album he wanted to listen to. The good news is, it sounds as though he’s definitely succeeded.
“In the least weird way possible, it’s my favorite album to listen to at the moment,” said Styles, who also revealed that it was more important for him to make a record he loved, instead of caving to the demands of what everyone else wants.
It’s great to hear that Styles is so satisfied with the work he’s put into his upcoming album, and we can’t wait to get our first taste of what his solo material will sound like when the singer’s first single drops on Friday!
