Camila Cabello could be sending a powerful message with her upcoming solo music.

The former Fifth Harmony member recently sat down with Glamour where she opened up about immigrating to the United States from Cuba when she was much younger and how that journey has inspired her new music.

Cabello told the magazine that her family’s immigrant experience has served as motivation for wanting to write “a love song for immigrants” somewhere down the line.

As Cabello puts it, she hopes that her song will help shine a positive light on the word “immigrant,” while also helping other little girls realize that they’re loved and wanted regardless of their immigrant status.

“It inspires me in my music to do my best to give [them] the light that I have,” explained Cabello. “I want to be what people think of when they think of America— a person who, no matter what her first language was or what her religion is, can see her dreams come to life if she works hard enough.”

We were already huge fans of Cabello, but her heartfelt comments about wanting to put more positivity out there with regards to the immigrant community makes us love her even more.

It truly seems as though she’s got a beautiful vision with regards to where she’d like to take her music, and we can’t wait to hear what she’s got in store for us whenever she decides to share her new material with the world.
