It looks like we’ll be seeing a familiar foe pop up very soon on The CW’s Arrow!

Stephen Amell took to Twitter on Monday (April 10) to share that actor Manu Bennett will be coming back to reprise his role as Slade Wilson, more commonly known by his alias, Deathstroke.

The actor got creative with his announcement, posting a photo of Deathstroke’s two-toned red and black mask in the middle of an empty field.

“Desperate times call for desperate measures. Welcome back @manubennett,” tweeted Amell earlier this week.

As exciting as it is to hear that we can expect to see Deathstroke return to the Arrow-verse, it’s Amell’s interesting choice of words that have really got us thinking about what Slade Wilson’s role could entail this time around.

As fans of the series know all too well, Oliver and Wilson go way back, but they haven’t always seen eye to eye. In fact, Wilson’s entire motive for returning to Starling City the first time around was to seek revenge against Oliver for allowing Ivo to kill Shado instead of Sara. Viewers will also undoubtedly remember that it’s Wilson who ends wreaking havoc across the city before ultimately murdering Oliver’s mother.

The last time we saw him, Deathstroke was safely behind bars at A.R.G.U.S. prison on Lian Yu, but it’s clear something’s going to bring him back to Starling City.

Could Amell tweeting that “desperate times call for desperate measures” mean we’ll be seeing the enemies team up to take on an even bigger enemy? We guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
