On Wednesday (April 12), Paramount Pictures released its newest trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight and there is a LOT of history we had no idea about.

As the countdown to the final Transformers film continues, we finally have a better look at the past, and what it means for humans and Transformers alike in the future.

“When all seems lost, a few brave souls can save everything we’ve ever known,” we hear within the trailer, and it couldn’t be more appropriate.

What we’ve always known about this movie is that humans and Transformers are at war, but now we can actually see glimpses of the past, present and future.

So what does this teaser mean? Well, it’s going to be a BIG battle for Earth between Cade (Mark Wahlberg) and his human team (and good Transformers) and Optimus Prime.

According to the beginning of this new clip, Transformers were somehow linked to the Knight of the Roundtable a LONG time ago.

“It started as a legend, one of the greatest of all,” the trailer teases before showing the past link between Transformers and the knights on a battle field, with lots of bloodshed.

Next, we see Optimus Prime ready to fight for his survival and take out all of the humans in the process. It is definitely a troubling time, but can good triumph and save Optimus Prime and the world in the process? We’re hoping “yes” is the correct answer.

There is also a lot of destruction, fighting, and ominous music throughout. Plus, Cade and his crew have a few chilling moments when they realize how bad things have actually become.

This is clearly going to be an action-packed movie and we are ready for it. What we’re not sure about however is the link to the knights and why it matters so much.

What about the past are they still hiding and how will it affect the outcome of this epic battle? Only time will tell!

Transformers: The Last Knight hits theaters on June 23, 2017.
