Just because you’re in the same movie with someone, doesn’t mean you actually know everyone on set. That’s exactly what happened to Drake Bell and Jonathan Lipnicki, who both starred in Jerry Maguire.
Back in 1996, Jerry Maguire was a HUGE hit. Sure, it was mostly because of Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger, but there were also two totally adorable kids in the movie who were total scene-stealers.
As Zellweger’s on-screen son, Ray, Lipnicki had an essential part in the movie — and even got to share a number of scenes with Cruise. Bell’s role was smaller — he played Jesse, the young boy who yelled at Cruise’s character after he refused to help get his father to stop playing hockey — but certainly memorable.
While we remember both of the boys from their roles in the Oscar-nominated flick, they had never actually met one another…until now, more than 20 years after the movie first came out.
On Sunday (April 23), Lipnicki posted a picture of his momentous meeting with Bell, who went on to star in Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh.
“Just two dudes who started their careers in Jerry Maguire. It’s so weird we JUST MET @drakebell #greatdude #jerrymaguire #drakeandjosh,” Lipnicki wrote.
It’s sort of like a reunion, except the two never actually knew each other as kids. Still, we’re happy they finally got to hangout face-to-face!
