Get ready, X-Men fans, because we now know what is coming next from the epic superhero franchise!

On Saturday (April 22), 20th Century Fox announced that the next film in the X-Men universe is going to be the Dark Phoenix.

Entertainment Weekly confirmed that forthcoming movie will revisit Jean Grey’s iconic storyline.

Fans have already gotten glimpses of Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner as Jean Grey in both X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Apocalypse.

Dark Phoenix was originally titled X-Men: Supernova, but writer-producer Simon Kinberg told SlashFilm that it was just a “code name.” He also explained that the movie is in the “early stages of prep,” which is pretty exciting.

The other good news is that based on a previous interview, Turner is ready and willing to return to her superhero role.

“The seeds of Phoenix definitely are planted in [Apocalypse]. She can’t control her powers unless she either fully stops them or lets them all loose, and that’s kind of Phoenix,” Turner told Entertainment Weekly in 2016. “I think in future movies to come we’ll definitely see a bit more of that.”

Dark Phoenix is set to hit theaters on November 2, 2018, which is a ways away, but we’ve already marked our calendars and so should you!

The studio also announced when Deadpool 2 would drop — on June 1, 2018 — and New Mutants from Josh Boone, is set to hit theaters on April 13, 2018.

We know it’s only 2017, but 2018 is already looking like it’s going to beat this year in the movie departments… well, at least in the superhero film arena.

Which new 20th Century Fox film are you most excited to see next year?
