Jurassic World 2 will introduce a character with strong ties to Jurassic Park — and, no, we’re not talking about Rexy.

While details are still sparse on the storyline for the upcoming sequel, it seems as if the movie will feature multiple nods to Jurassic Park. Case in point? Jurassic World 2 will introduce a character associated with Jurassic Park’s John Hammond (played by late Richard Attenborough), the billionaire who founded the original theme park.

At the premiere of The Promise in New York City earlier this month, actor James Cromwell confirmed to People’s Choice that he’s been tapped to play Hammond’s partner in the upcoming movie. He’ll even sport a look similar to that of Hammond’s.

“That’s the reason for the beard,” Cromwell told People’s Choice, referring to the fact that Hammond was bearded in Jurassic Park. “We’re both very bearded.”

While Hammond was instrumental in bringing the park to life, Cromwell says his character also had a big role in its creation.

“I invented the technology,” the actor told People’s Choice.

At the end of Jurassic World, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) successfully escaped the park. Could Cromwell’s introduction mean that they’ll be turning to him for help understanding the technology that developed the dinos?

We’ll have to wait to find out until the sequel hits theaters on June 22, 2018.
