Between sharing the same first name and hosting their own late-night shows, it’s understandable that people sometimes confuse Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel — even celebs aren’t immune to making the mistake Emma Watson.
On Thursday (April 27), Watson paid a visit to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and relived an embarrassing late-night talk show blunder she made during her last appearance. As Watson tells it, during her last visit, she complimented Fallon on one of his viral video bits. The only problem? The bit — “I Told My Kids I Ate Their Halloween Candy” — is actually done by Kimmel.
“The trauma, the post-traumatic stress of my last performance on the Jimmy Fallon show,” said Watson about the mix-up. “I dove straight in there with, ‘I love that Halloween candy thing you do.'”
Of course, there was silence at the time, since Fallon had no idea what she was talking about.
Watson recounted that after she started to explain the bit that she liked, the talk show host called her out and said, “That’s Jimmy Kimmel. That was the first time we met!”
“I died,” Watson said, after admitting to her awkward moment. Fallon, however, was really cool about the incident and even let her restart her interview with him.
“You could tell that I was dying inside and you were like, ‘It’s okay, honey. If you want to go out and start again, we can do it again,’” Watson said.
This might’ve been a traumatic experience for the Beauty and the Beast actress, but now the two can joke about it and we can’t stop laughing.
