The MTV Movie & TV Awards are almost upon us, and this year, things are going to be a little different.
The award show, which is usually called the MTV Movie Awards, has added TV to its list of awards, but that’s not all it it’s changing up.
The network has switched categories like Best Actor and Best Actress to being non-gendered, so both men and women are now in the same category. Basically, meaning that everyone is equal in their battle to win the title of Best Actor in a Movie, or Best Actor in a TV series, etc.
While we are all for these changes, the one that we didn’t see coming was the recipient of this year’s MTV Movie & TV Generation Award. Yes, that award has already been announced, and it’s not going to who you’d expect.
Usually this title is given to one actor or actress as an individual honor. This year, however, MTV has decided to name the Fast & Furious franchise as the winner of the Generation Award.
Vin Diesel, who plays Dom in all of the films, will accept the award on behalf of the entire cast and team, . He will be joined by his co-stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jordana Brewster, E! Online reports.
To make the moment even bigger, J Balvin, Camila Cabello and Pitbull will perform their single, Hey Ma,” which is featured in The Fate of the Furious film. Pretty awesome, right?
The MTV Movie & TV Awards airs on Sunday, May 7 at 8 p.m. on MTV.
