Once Upon A Time has lead us all on quite the journey over the past six years, but if the show lives to see another season, fans should expect some major changes coming their way.
Showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis recently revealed in an interview with EW that fans who’ve stuck with the show for the past six seasons should expect this year’s finale to read like the end of a chapter.
“What I would say for fans it it will be complete,” said Kitsis of the finale. “They will not have any dangling threads that they’re like, ‘I can’t believe [it]! We’re not going for a crazy ending that everyone goes, ‘Well, what did that mean? I feel unsatisfied.’”
While Horowitz and Kitsis aren’t spilling the details with regards to what their satisfying season finale will entail, they teased that it could mean we’ll be saying goodbye to some of our favorite characters.
Before you fret, however, take heart in the fact that Horowitz assured that though some character’s storylines may be tied up, it doesn’t mean we’ll never see them again throughout the series.
“We’re not designing this is a way where you say goodbye to everyone and never see them again,” Horowitz said. “We’ve been telling a story for six years now for these characters and now we’re trying to complete that story, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have other stories.”
As sad as we’ll be to potentially say goodbye to some of the characters we’ve been following for years, we’re definitely looking forward to seeing how Once Upon A Time reinvents itself after this year’s season finale!
Once Upon A Time’s two-hour season finale airs Sunday, May 14 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
