On Friday (May 5), Cooper stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show and talked all about his upcoming film, A Star Is Born — a movie is about a weathered actor, who has a failing career (Cooper), but still helps a young singer/actress (Gaga) to make her mark.
In the film, Cooper has to sing, and as he told the show’s host, Ellen DeGeneres, it’s not as easy as it looks.
“I thought I sang. I was like, ‘Yeah, I sing.’ It’s so hard to sing! Like, people cook — but then there’s cooking. I’m a good cook, but to be an amazing chef…So, singing, I had no idea,” Cooper told DeGeneres. “I would get fatigued at the end of even a phrase…I’ve really been awakened to the phenomenon of singing.”
As for his co-star, Cooper gushed over her singing abilities and admitted he’s just doing his best so she can shine.
“I just hope I can be believable enough so you can watch Stefani — that’s her name, Gaga— just shine. Because she’s incredible,” he explained. “I just have to make sure at least you believe my character, so she can then be incredible.”
We all know that Gaga can sing, because she has a TON of hits to prove it, and we also know she can act, based on her work on American Horror Story. Now, she’s combining the two for an epic movie role we can’t wait to see it all come together.
A Star Is Born is set to hit theaters on September 28, 2018.
