Beauty and the Beast may have done extremely well at the box office, but that doesn’t mean the live-action remake should get a sequel — at least according to some fans.

While star Emma Watson has gone on record to say that she’d be on board for a follow-up film, when People’s Choice polled followers on Twitter about whether or not they’d like to see a sequel hit the big screen, a surprising percentage responded in the negative.

While 29 percent of respondents said they were game for Beauty and the Beast 2, a whopping 43 percent voted for “Leave it alone!” Meanwhile, another 28 percent said their decision would depend on the storyline.

While it is surprising to see how many fans aren’t thrilled about the idea of a sequel, the hesitation is at least understandable. After all, though the 2017 Beauty and the Beast with Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast, may have been reimagined for a modern day audience, it still stayed true to the storyline of the original classic and culminated in a “happily ever after.” A sequel would risk ruining that closure for a new story that may not even live up to the first. That said, we think Watson’s idea for a part 2 certainly has potential.

“I always thought Belle would become a teacher, and she would run the library in the castle and open it up to the village,” she told Access Hollywood recently. “This was where I was going.”
