On Sunday (May 8), the MTV Movie & TV Awards took over Los Angeles and all eyes were on the celebrities in the audience as the awards were handed out. Of course, Stranger Things was in the mix throughout the award show, because it’s awesome.
Brown, who plays Eleven, took home the coveted awards of “Best Actor,” in the first-ever gender-neutral TV category for the award show, so it was double the excitement. The 13-year-old actress couldn’t have been happier as she took the stage and we were hooked on her every word.
“First of all, I want to thank everyone who voted and especially MTV,” Brown said as she began to tear up on stage. “I want to thank the cast and crew, who have become my family. You guys, I love you.”
Next, the actress thanked her family.
“I want to thank my family, Paige, Charlie, Avery, you give me light every day, I love you guys. And my mom and dad, for being so supportive,” she said through the tears. “I want to thank my team, Jenny and Cara, you guys are like my best friends, you’re not even my publicists.”
Brown then went onto to thank Stranger Things’ director Shawn Levy, as she continued to cry and show off her emotional side.
“I want to thank Shawn Levy for being one of the best director’s I’ve ever had the pleasure working with. Shawn, everything you’ve taught me, I will carry on for the rest of my career”
She concluded by thanking the show’s creators, the Duffer brothers, because, “they’ve created a badass female iconic character that I’ve got the honor to play.”
Ah, this is so awesome! If you missed it, it was basically the sweetest speech we’ve heard in a while and now we love Brown even more! Watch the whole speech above, but prepare yourself to get a little teary eyed.
Stranger Things Season 2 premieres on Halloween.
