It’s going to be a happily-ever-after for Once Upon a Time fans after all!

With the end of season 6 quickly approaching, OUAT fans can breathe easy, because ABC has officially picked up the fantasy drama for season 7, TVGuide.com reports.

Unfortunately, however, not everyone will be returning to Storybrooke for the next chapter.

The show’s leading lady, Jennifer Morrison, who plays the Emma Swan has already announced that she will not be reprising her role next season.

“As I reached the end of my 6 year contract on Once Upon a Time, I was faced with a significant decision,” Morrison wrote on Instagram earlier this week. “ABC, [showrunners] Eddy Kitsis, and Adam Horowitz very generously invited me to continue as a series regular. After very careful consideration, I have decided that creatively and personally, it is time for me to move on.”

Meanwhile, on the heels of the renewal news last night (May 12), Rebecca Mader, who portrays the Wicked Witch, took to Instagram to announce that she’s also on her way out. Unlike with Morrison, however, Mader said she didn’t have a choice in the matter.

“A lot of you have been asking if I will be joining everyone in season 7, so I wanted to let you know personally that unfortunately I am not. This wasn’t my choice but a creative decision of the show’s that I totally respect and Understand,” she explained. “The most important thing is that you all know how much you mean to me.”

As for the rest of the cast, there are still no formal announcements on who will be coming back, and which stories will be coming to an end.

What we do know is that everything is about to change, but that’s normal for OUAT, which has been keeping us on our toes and introducing new characters for six seasons.

Can OUAT survive without Morrison and a few other key characters? Only time will tell! The good news is that in Storybrooke there is always a new fairy tale story ready to be unearthed, and we’re can’t wait to watch.

Which characters do you want to see back for season 7? Let us know in our poll, here!

Once Upon a Time’s Season 6 finale airs on Sundays at 7 p.m. on ABC.
