Bad news, Prison Break fans. The series’ sentence has been commuted…again.

FOX execs have confirmed that there are “no plans right now” to continue the revival, Deadline reports.

That said — fans shouldn’t give up on seeing Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) behind bars again just yet.

While another season of the revival isn’t on the horizon, the door isn’t completely closed on revisiting the drama down the line.

“We would definitely consider doing more episodes of Prison Break,” Fox TV chairman Dana Walden said on a conference call with reporters, according to Entertainment Weekly. “I know they’re thinking about it. It’s definitely not something we want to do every season, we want to make it special. We actually love this season.”

While the news is disappointing, it’s not entirely unexpected. Prison Break creator Paul T. Scheuring had previously said that he had no plans to helm another season of the revival.

“I don’t like embarking on a story unless I know exactly where it ends. The reason I signed on to do this season was because I knew where the season ended,” Scheuring told Collider  in an interview last month. “I couldn’t tell you another story about this group of people.”

However, fans can’t be blamed for holding out hope for another season. After all, Miller himself said he’d be open to continuing Michael’s story.

“I wouldn’t rule it out,” Miller told Entertainment Weekly in April about doing more episodes. “I feel like there’s more story there and now we’re talking about multiple generations.”

Prison Break first debuted in 2005 and ran for four seasons before getting the boot from FOX. The revival — Prison Break: Resurrection — debuted last year, and brought back a number of original cast members — includingMiller and Purcell, who both star on The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Sarah Wayne Callies, to name a few.
