On Tuesday (May 16), 20th Century Fox released its final trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes and it’s a good one. The entire trailer is jam-packed with action and intense footage, and now we can’t wait to see the film this summer.

The third installment of the Planet of the Apes franchise is all about war, and this trailer just proves that. This movie will follow Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his ape forces as they are pitted against “bad humans” or human soldiers who are out to kill them no matter what the cost.

What we do know is that Caesar and the Colonel (played by Woody Harrelson) will come to face to face in order to determine which side will win once and for all.

As for this new trailer, we can see that this battle seems to be instigated by the soldiers and not the apes. Although, it begins with the apes busting through a door with giant guns in their hands.

They are stopped dead in their tracks when they discover a young girl, alone, in the house. Caesar takes her as his own and that’s when it’s made known that the apes only fight when they are cornered.

“We are not savages, apes fight only to survive,” Caesar says.

Next, we see that the soldiers are preparing for one epic battle with tanks, guns, and heavy artillery. The Colonel makes it clear that they will fight and the humans will win.

“We created them, but now we will bring an end to their kind,” the Colonel says in front of his men to set the stage for battle.

“No mercy, no peace, this is war,” Caesar later says when it’s clear that the battle is going to happen whether they want it or not.

There is also a LOT of action sequences in this clip. We see deaths, destruction, guns, bombs, and so many weapons that we couldn’t count them if we tried.

The battle is coming and it’s humans against apes, yet the apes are willing to protect this one girl with everything they’ve got. Which species is actually the worst? We’ll have to wait and see!

War for the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 14, 2017.
