The Voice is switching it up again when it comes to who will be in those four red chairs, and this time they’re bringing in an American Idol alum. The one and only Kelly Clarkson is joining hit singing competition!
Clarkson revealed the news during a Facebook live session with current Voice coach Blake Shelton, E! News reports.
“I’m going to make the big announcement right now,” Shelton teased before Facetiming Clarkson. “Welcome, Kelly Clarkson.”
Clarkson isn’t the only Idol alum headed to The Voice. On Sunday (May 15), Deadline reports that NBC officially confirmed that Jennifer Hudson will be joining the already stellar panel of coaches in season 13.
In a statement via E! News, Clarkson said that she’s been going back with The Voice team for years about potentially signing on as a coach, but the timing was never right — until now.
“I can’t wait to turn my chair and see the faces of up-and-coming artists and provide them with the help and support they’ve needed to break into the industry,” Clarkson said in a statement. “Watch out Shelton, I’m comin’ to win!!”
Now we can’t wait to see which artist Hudson turns her chair for first!
(People’s Choice and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
The Voice currently airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
