Get ready to see your favorite superheroes band together once more!
According to Deadline, the previous superhero mash-up — which brought together stars from Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl — earned The CW its most-watched week in six years, so it makes sense that the network would want to try and repeat its success. The CW also did a musical crossover between The Flash and Supergirl last year, but there’s no word yet on whether the network’s stars will be singing again next season.
Despite the new addition of the midseason DC drama Black Lightning to the network, Pedowitz told reporters that the series is not part of the Arrow universe at this point, and therefore will not be included in the upcoming crossover event (which will feature the all same show’s as last year).
With Black Lightning — which is about a retired superhero played by Cress Williams who becomes a vigilante for justice — The CW seems to be further cementing itself as the home of superhero series. However, Pedowitz isn’t about to overload viewers with its superhero slate.
“We believe we have the best superhero programming around anywhere,” Pedowitz told reporters on the call, according to Entertainment Weekly. “Our belief is that we will never have more than four DC shows [on] at a time, as far as that goes, so we’ll always have a rotation of some sort.”
