Katy Perry may be gearing up to judge American Idol, but she’s still got time to pull one over on her fans.

To promote her new album, Bon Appetit, Perry teamed up with Vanity Fair’s Derek Blasberg to surprise unsuspecting visitors at the Whitney Museum in New York City.

For the prank, Perry recreated the concept art of her album, disguising herself as part of an art installation involving a picnic table full of food. According to Vanity Fair, the idea was all hers.

With the stage set, Blasberg invited museum-goers to check out a new “exhibit” by the artist Katherine Hudson (which is Perry’s real name).

As the visitors arrived, Blasberg described the installation before lifting up a tray to unveil Perry’s (totally still) head on the table. Of course, most people assumed they were looking at a mold of Perry’s face — that is until the pop star decided to speak.

“That looks like Katy Perry,” said one visitor, which prompted Perry to respond, “[It’s] Miley Cyrus.”

Check out the hilarious reactions above.
