Last night’s Billboard Music Awards honored the likes of Drake, Blake Shelton, and more, but it was the performances that really got people talking. (Okay, the performances, and BTS. Turns out people really love the Korean boy band.)
While more than a dozen artists (including Drake, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, John Legend, and Florida Georgia Line, to name just a few) took the stage at the BBMAs in Las Vegas on Sunday (May 21), according to Billboard.com, there were a handful who not only inspired viewers to lip sync along at home — but also to tweet.
Check out the five most-tweeted about performances from the show via Billboard.com:
1. Miley Cyrus gets emotional while performing “Malibu.”
When Miley Cyrus cries, we all cry (and tweet, apparently). Introduced by little sister Noah Cyrus, Miley hit the stage to perform her new single “Malibu” — and what resulted was a “wrecking ball” of emotions. As she neared the end of the song, Miley broke down in tears, and her soul-bearing performance quickly became one of the most-tweeted about moments from the show.
2. Celine Dion delivers an epic rendition of the “Titanic” theme song.
Our hearts still go on for Celine Dion. Nearly twenty years after the release of the iconic Titanic theme song, the singer took the stage to perform “My Heart Will Go On Once More.” The powerhouse ballad apparently made lots of people very nostalgic because Dion’s performance became the second-most tweeted about moment from the show.
3. Ed Sheeran performs “Castle on a Hill” from a different location.
Ed Sheeran doesn’t need to be in the house to win over an audience. The singer’s performance of “Castle on a Hill” all the way from Santiego, Chile, earned him rave reviews — and plenty of tweets.
4. Cher proves why she’s an icon.
Celine Dion isn’t the only diva on the list. Cher showed everyone what makes her Icon worthy with an unforgettable performance of her classic song, “Believe.”
5. Julia Michaels breaks her way into the top 5.
Julia Michaels just proved she can hold her own with the best of them. Thanks to her powerful performance of “Issues,” the 23-year-old managed to break into the coveted top five list of most-tweeted about moments from the night.
