The 2017 Billboard Music Awards took place in Las Vegas on Sunday night (May 21), and needless to say, the night was full of amazing musical performances and a LOT of fun celebrity encounters. One of the best was when Lea Michele met Celine Dion and couldn’t help but cry in excitement.
During the award show, Michele had the honor of announcing Dion before she took the stage to perform “My Heart Will Go On,” in honor of the 20th anniversary of Titanic.
“On a personal note, she is a woman who has always inspired me,” Michele said during her quick speech, and when she actually met the iconic singer you could tell that she meant it.
“Tonight was the best night of my life,” Michele wrote on Instagram alongside three black-and-white images with Dion. “What an honor to introduce my idol @celinedion at the @bbmas and meet her after. She is as kind as she is talented. ❤️.”
In the pictures, Michele can be seen wiping away tears while talking to Dion. The Glee alum even got to hug it out with the legendary singer, so we totally understand the crying!
Michele shared the same three photos on her Twitter account but in color and added even more sweet words about her idol. “No words @celinedion @BBMAs ✨,” she wrote on the first photo of her getting teary-eyed.
When Dion started to wipe away the Glee alum’s tears, Michele captioned the image, “My heart!!!” In the last photo, which shows her holding hands with the legendary singer, Michele wrote, “I love her so much!!!”
From the looks of these sweet photos, the feeling is definitely mutual. Now all we need, as fans who love both of these ladies, is for Dion and Michele to do a duet. Wouldn’t that be magical?
