The boys of One Direction might be in the midst of pursuing solo careers, but that doesn’t mean Directioners should lose all hope when it comes to the possibility of a reunion.
Take a look below to find out where each member of One Direction stands with regards to getting the band back together.
Harry Styles might be riding high off the success of his recently released self-titled solo album, but he’s not ruling out the possibility of more 1D somewhere down the line. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Styles opened up about the band’s decision to take an indefinite hiatus, saying the foursome came to the conclusion that a break would be healthy for both themselves and their fanbase. More importantly, Styles stressed that he’s not closing the door on the possibility of a reunion.
“I love the band, and would never rule out anything int he future. The band changed my life, gave me everything,” Styles told Rolling Stone.
If there’s one thing Niall Horan wants fans to know it’s that the odds of One Direction getting back together someday are much higher some may believe. In fact, Horan revealed in an interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest back in December of 2016 that the boys are all still in touch amidst pursuing their own solo projects.
“We’re all just kind of doing our own bits and pieces now, we’re all enjoying it, we’re all in touch, but I think people have this public perception that we all hate each other and One Direction is never going to happen ever again,” explained Horan. “[But] it definitely will. We’re just enjoying our time.”
More recently, the singer said during an interview for Billboard‘s June 2017 cover story that he has made it clear to his management that when One Direction is ready to reunite, he will be on board. He even has a timeline in mind.
“When it will be, I don’t know,” Horan told Billboard about when One Direction might possibly reunite. “I’d prefer not to do it after I’m 40. I’d prefer the next few years.”
Payne may sing about being “free” from One Direction on his debut solo single, but Directioners shouldn’t read too much into the lyrics. In a recent interview with KISS FM, Payne was clear on his stance about getting the band back together, saying “there deserves to be” a 1D reunion one day.
“There was an album that wasn’t toured, which I wrote half of. It deserves its time,” said Payne according to Digital Spy. “We need to write another album and do some ore tours. I had some of the best times in my life in that band.”
Like the rest of his bandmates Tomlinson isn’t ruling out the possibility of One Direction coming together again in the future. As Tomlinson put it during an interview on the Today Show back in January 2017, it’s really more of a matter of when it’ll happen.
Unfortunately, Zayn Malik hasn’t said much about potentially getting back together with his former bandmates. Even so, fans still holding out hope that the Mind of Mine singer will one day find his way back to 1D might find comfort in an interview Malik did with Sunday Times Culture magazine back in 2016.
“Who knows? I don’t know,” said Malik, when asked if he’d ever be interested in reuniting with 1D, according to Billboard. “If the time was right and that was the thing to do, then I would make that decision when it came around.”
